Baking a chocolate cake

Hello my friends,

Do you also like sweets?
After having lunch, I am often in the mood of something sweet. Unfortunately my stock of sweets is always empty, but at the moment I want to go outside as little as possible, because I don’t want to endanger my health or the health of my family or anyone else.

What do you think? Do you feel like baking?
I have a super fast receipt for chocolate cake.

“Mmmmhhhh”, just the thought about the good-smelling cake in the oven makes my mouth water.

For my cake you need the following:

  • 125 g     dark chocolate
  • 125 g     butter
  • 150 g     sugar
  • 90 g       flour
  • 3             eggs
  • Juice of ½ orange or lemon

If you want to have the cake higher or bigger, then take the following amounts of ingredients:

  • 200 g     dark chocolate
  • 200 g     butter
  • 200 g     sugar
  • 120 g     flour
  • 5             eggs
  • Juice of ½ orange or lemon

First of all you have to melt the chocolate together with the butter. The best way to melt them is a bain-marie. Therefore you need a pot which you fill with water. Then you heat the water on low / medium temperature – it must not boil.

And always take care of your hands.

Now you need a bowl that you put into the warm water and add the chocolate and butter in there. Be careful, no water should get into this bowl.
Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until everything is melted and you have a liquid mixture.

Take the bowl out of the water and you may try a little of the chocolate-butter mixture. 🙂 Now you stir in the sugar and flour and then add one egg after another.
Eventually you add the juice and there you go.

Fill the dough in a standard 26cm springform pan or any other baking tray you like. No worries, the dough will not rise any further in the oven.

Put the cake in the oven at 210° C top/bottom heat for 10-20 minutes.

And now we have to wait!

“Riiiing” my egg timer says that the cake is ready and I can also smell it.

With the help of a chopstick, you can check if the cake is baked properly. Therefore you just take a wooden chopstick, stick it into the cake and take it out again. If there is no more dough on the stick, the cake is ready.

Last but not least you can dust the cake with some icing sugar; alternatively you can eat it with vanilla sauce or, on warm days even with some ice cream.

I can’t wait to have the first piece of it!

“Mmmmhhh, that’s so delicious!”  Enjoy your cake my little bakers.
